There are two swim programs to choose from listed below:
Please note that during the month of August (Aug 9-Sept 1st) all prior Stroke and Efficiency Class
swimmers are encouraged to continue swimming with the 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. time period.
Workouts will accomodated all abilities and allow for a continued support of the athlete's progress.
New swimmers in the 6 Week Stroke and Efficiency Class:
The 6 week program will focus on improving an athlete's comfort level and efficiency in the water. This program will focus on skill development and body position, as well as work on freestyle stroke mechanics through a series of swimming drills and exercises. No background in swimming is necessary but participants should be able to swim a minimum of 25 yards without interruption.
The first few weeks of this program are more hands on with the coach(es) and will allow for more feedback, stroke correction and interaction. As the program continues the swimmers will be introduced to a gradual increase in swimming volume and start to work with the entire swim group. Lanes will be broken up into speed/ability and the corresponding workout(s) will be appropriate to that lane's needs.
**There will be oneopen water session per 6 week blocks to introduce the concepts associated with group open water swimming. This will prepare swimmers for race situations such as open water competitions, or triathlons. This open water session will only occur during sessions that weather/lake temperatures allow for it (ex - no winter open water sessions). **
Upon completion, athletes will have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the drills and routines associated with an adult swim program(masters). Their fitness will be established and allow for an increase in their swim yardage. They should feel comfortable and at ease in any swim training environment.

Returning and experienced swimmers:
This program will incorporated the drills and proper technique taught in the 6 week Stroke and Efficiency Class, but will also build on the athlete’s endurance and improve their swimming fitness. The workouts will be challenging but fun and will give the swimmers a chance to train in a positive atmosphere. Workout yardage will range from 1,500 - 4,000 yds pending the athlete's level and ability. Swimmers will receive feedback, stroke correction, and input on their swimming but this track is not as hands on intensive as the Stroke and Efficiency swimmers during thier first couple weeks (see above for explaination).
Various open water sessions will be incorporated into the program so that athletes may gain exposure to open water swimming, as well as build on their fitness and racing.
NOTE: Swimmers must be proficient and experienced swimmers to swim in this program. Knowledge of group lane swimming etiquette, drills, plus clock and pace time usage.
(If a new swimmer does not have a swimming background/experience,
and is not able to understand the drills/terminology or information being given to them
during the workouts they may be asked to start with the 6 Week Program before joining this class.)
